About the programme
The Bachelor of Commerce (Global Business) is an NZQF Level 7 undergraduate degree at Lincoln University that provides a core grounding in international business management. It carries 360 credits and takes 3 years of full-time study on the Lincoln University campus; graduates receive a Bachelor of Commerce with a Global Business major.
With business changing quickly worldwide, the programme combines knowledge with the values and decision-making skills that reflect today's customer expectations, corporate responsibilities and market dynamics. Its focus is the internationalisation of management, coordination and key functions within multinational corporations. Lincoln argues that New Zealand needs graduates who understand international business to stay competitive.
Year one covers the commerce core: commercial law, management, economics and markets, financial information, marketing and statistics. Year two adds organisation and human resource management, management accounting and productivity management. Year three centres on business strategy plus at least two options such as business and sustainability, Branding Aotearoa, agribusiness strategy, marketing New Zealand products and services, international economics, integrated business analysis and food market economics. Students study the structures, systems and channels of international business and learn to balance internal and global stakeholder needs. Part of the degree can be spent overseas in a country economically important to New Zealand.
Because of Lincoln's specialist focus on food and ecosystems, graduates are particularly attractive to agribusiness. Lincoln suggests adding courses in sustainability, supply chain management or hotel and tourism management, and an additional major or minor may be possible.
