About the programme
The Bachelor of Commerce with Honours is an NZQF Level 8 programme at Lincoln University: an additional year of advanced study taken after an undergraduate commerce degree. It carries 120 credits and takes 1 year of full-time study on the Lincoln University campus.
Lincoln sees the management of commerce and value chains as central to the global economy, and positions the Honours year as a way to add value to an existing degree and widen career options in New Zealand and abroad. The year is designed to be flexible and practical, preparing graduates to contribute straight away and keep developing professionally and personally in a fast-changing business environment.
The programme consists of 80 credits of 600-level coursework (four 20-credit courses) and a 40-credit dissertation. At least one research methods course, Applied Research Methods, is required. Students then choose at least three further courses from a broad list that includes advanced taxation, international trade, quantitative economic analysis, finance theory and corporate policy, commercial banking, futures and options, management research methods, labour management, services marketing, business statistics, quantitative and qualitative social science research methods, tourism management and tourist behaviour. Lincoln recommends planning choices with a course advisor so they form a coherent programme.
The programme suits strong commerce graduates who want to deepen a specialisation, learn research methods and complete an independent research project.
