About the programme
The Graduate Diploma in Business & Sustainability is an NZQF Level 7 programme at Lincoln University for degree holders who want to apply financial, social and environmental sustainability principles in management. It carries 120 credits and normally takes 1 year of full-time study.
The university's premise is that managers who can work with these principles are in demand. Measuring and reporting organisational performance against a 'triple bottom line' is no longer a new idea, but as expectations of responsible business grow, so does the need for staff and leaders who grasp the link between sustainable practice and profitability and can act on it.
The compulsory course is BMGT 301 Business and Sustainability, worth 15 credits. Seven further suitable courses are chosen with the Academic Coordinator of the Faculty of Agribusiness and Commerce. The programme must include at least five 300-level courses and no more than one at 100 level. This allows it to be shaped around each student's background and goals while keeping a clear focus on sustainable business.
The diploma prepares graduates for roles within businesses or as advisors or assessors to industry.
It suits graduates from a range of fields who want to add an understanding of business sustainability and learn to weigh the financial, social and environmental consequences of management decisions.
