About the programme

The Master of Business Informatics (Business Analytics) is a NZQF Level 9 programme at Yoobee Colleges worth 180 credits that builds a grounding in business analytics, information systems and data-driven decision-making over 45 weeks, split into three trimesters.

The curriculum mixes business and IT courses, preparing graduates for both technical and managerial roles. Trimester one covers strategic information systems planning, systems analysis and design, database management and research methods. Trimester two moves on to IT project management, business strategy, data analytics and visualisation using AI and machine learning, and business intelligence with data warehousing.

The programme puts weight on culturally informed methods, including Kaupapa Māori frameworks, and on ethics in data work, such as Māori data ownership under Te Tiriti o Waitangi. Students use industry tools to turn raw data into insights and strategy. The final trimester is an industry-based capstone project addressing a real business problem.

Yoobee is a member of Health Informatics New Zealand, and graduates can pursue IBM certification and earn a Cisco badge. The college's industry partners include IBM, AWS and Fortinet. Students work with open-source software, have access to the IEEE Computer Society Digital Library and O'Reilly, and bring their own laptop. An online preparatory course in quantitative and analytical skills is available on request. The programme runs at campuses in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch.
