About the programme
The Master of Business Informatics (Healthcare Informatics) is a NZQF Level 9 programme at Yoobee Colleges worth 180 credits that teaches students to address complex health sector problems with digital technology and data analysis over 45 weeks, across three trimesters.
The first trimester lays the groundwork: strategic information systems planning, systems analysis and design, database management for health informatics, and research methods. It pays particular attention to designing culturally appropriate systems for Māori and Pasifika health services, healthcare data modelling and patient privacy.
In the second trimester students take IT project management, digital healthcare design covering electronic health records, telemedicine and mobile health apps, health analytics using AI, and data safety against cyberattacks and breaches. Health inequities between cultural groups and ethical data use run through the whole programme. It closes with a capstone project on a real industry problem.
Yoobee is a member of Health Informatics New Zealand, graduates can pursue IBM certification and a Cisco badge, and the college partners with IBM, AWS and Fortinet. Students use open-source software, get access to the IEEE Computer Society Digital Library and O'Reilly, and bring their own laptop. An online preparatory course in quantitative and analytical skills is offered on request. The programme suits graduates from health, biomedical and related fields who want to work where healthcare meets IT.
