About the programme

The Master of Business (Global Management and Marketing) is an NZQF level 9 programme at Lincoln University in New Zealand that prepares managers and marketers to work across international markets through 180 credits of study. It takes 12 to 18 months of full-time study depending on the start point.

The programme starts from the idea that business leadership is increasingly measured on a global scale, and that leaders need the perspective, critical thinking and tools to manage in markets of any size, anywhere. It develops the management and relationship skills needed to lead, along with responsible business stewardship.

Management and marketing are approached from an international angle. Students learn core theory and how to apply it to real business problems, design and carry out strategies, write business and marketing plans, and sharpen their written and spoken communication. Global value chains, and how to steer an organisation through them, receive particular attention.

The degree is coursework-only, with no thesis. Foundation courses in managerial economics, accounting and finance, management, marketing and research for managers come first, followed by advanced business strategy, managing change, supply chain theory, marketing strategy and marketing management. A five-week Strategic Business Analysis module completes the programme. Lincoln suggests allowing about 10 hours a week per course. It runs on the Lincoln University campus and online, with in-person classes, live Teams sessions and recordings. Students on a Student Visa must enrol on campus, the online option is not open to international students already in New Zealand, and part-time study is for domestic students only.

The programme suits bachelor's graduates aiming for general management or senior marketing positions.
