About the programme
The Master of Commerce and Management (Research) is an NZQF level 9 research programme at Lincoln University in New Zealand that builds advanced knowledge of management, organisational behaviour, marketing, finance, accounting and economics. The standard route is 240 credits over two years of full-time study.
Lincoln points out that the skills and breadth of understanding of leaders — whether in a company, a sports club or a government department — strongly affect the people who work with them. The programme therefore prepares students for the modern business world, developing the grasp of theory and practice needed to form their own views and make decisions that shape an organisation and everyone in it.
Normally 120 credits come from coursework and 120 from a thesis, with the first year serving as research preparation. The coursework of at least 120 credits is approved by the Academic Board and usually includes QMET 615, ECON 615 and four further courses from the BCom (Hons) schedule. A thesis-only route of at least 120 credits is also available, and Lincoln publishes a list of potential supervisors. Study is on the Lincoln University campus.
The programme suits graduates of relevant bachelor's degrees who want to research business and management or prepare for leadership in different kinds of organisations.
