About the programme

The Bachelor of Creativity (Performing Arts) is an NZQF Level 7 programme at Whitireia & WelTec: the final year of a performing arts degree, taken as one year of full-time study worth 120 credits. It is for students who have already completed Level 5 and 6 diplomas in dance, drama or musical theatre, and the streams listed for it are Dance and Musical Theatre.

The aim of the year is to build on existing skills and knowledge to create an original body of work and an industry-ready portfolio. Students learn from working industry professionals who help them develop a personal style and prepare for professional life.

The programme is delivered in partnership with Toi Whakaari: New Zealand Drama School, and students study on the Toi Whakaari campus with access to its facilities and support services. Entry to the performing arts programmes is by audition, which usually involves workshops or group classes along with individual demonstrations. It suits dancers and musical theatre performers who want to complete their degree and step into the profession with a strong portfolio.
