About the programme
The Bachelor of Information Technology is a NZQF Level 7 programme at Whitireia & WelTec that trains IT professionals over three full-time years (360 credits). The degree carries industry accreditation from IT Professionals New Zealand.
The curriculum was shaped together with the IT sector so that graduates leave with skills employers actually look for. Alongside technical subjects, students work on communication, project management and teamwork. According to the institute, whichever part of the technology field a student is aiming for, the degree offers a pathway towards it.
Study culminates in an industry project in the final year, where students apply what they have learned to a practical brief. Classes are held at the Petone campus, and a part-time option is available for people balancing study with work or other responsibilities.
The degree suits both school leavers and adults moving into an IT career. Whitireia & WelTec also offers further steps in the same field: a Graduate Diploma, Postgraduate Certificate, Postgraduate Diploma and Master of Information Technology.
