About the programme
The Master of Management is an NZQF Level 9 degree at ICL Graduate Business School that teaches how to lead, manage and transform organisations in a climate of constant change. It is worth 180 credits and takes 12 or 16 months.
Students examine management theory and practice critically and carry out applied research. Building on earlier study in business, management or a related field, the programme weaves together several threads: leadership in culturally specific and global contexts, frameworks and tools for guiding organisations through change, and the use of research to tackle real business problems.
A distinctive feature is its bicultural dimension: one paper is dedicated to Māori business and leadership models. ICL sees this as an advantage for graduates, because New Zealand employers want to understand diverse markets at home and overseas.
The curriculum has eight 15-credit papers and a 60-credit applied project. The project also lays a solid foundation for anyone considering a PhD, and the ICL business school has active researchers across several business fields. The longer option runs over four 16-week trimesters, the shorter over three. Students must bring their own laptop or tablet.
Graduates should be able to apply current management theory to new situations, build an engaged and collaborative workplace culture, and communicate plans and strategies that improve business results.
