About the programme
The Postgraduate Diploma in Information Technology is a NZQF Level 8 programme at Whitireia & WelTec worth 120 credits that takes IT knowledge to a more advanced level in a chosen specialism over one year of full-time study. Students also develop sound project management skills.
The diploma has two compulsory papers plus a range of electives, most worth 15 credits. Topics include data mining and business intelligence, cloud computing, network design, security and forensics, quality assurance and testing, blockchain and cybersecurity. The choice of electives lets students shape the programme around their career plans.
Delivery is blended at the Petone campus, pairing on-campus classes and specialist facilities with online resources. It can be completed in one year full-time or over up to five years part-time alongside work.
The programme suits IT graduates and experienced practitioners who want to specialise. Those who wish to go further can continue to the Master of Information Technology.
